The Horseman's Gap

For the peoples of the Nan Anduin, the ensuring centuries of freedom from war

and raiding became known as the Quiet Peace.During this time the Woodmen and Elves had little need for the more inaccessible and hidden place s of the Nan Anduin.Hobbits infiltrated the rivervalleys as far east as the eaves of Mirkwood and as far south as the Falls of Rauros and the Nindalf,a long day's river journey north of Osgiliath, the Gondorian capital. The Plains Northmen, the Eothraim, saw the return of Easterling control over the Horseman's Gap.While the Mangeras still traveled the lower Anduin after this time, the land was never again safe for Hobbits or Men.
