The Hongwir (Me."Heart-weavers" or "Heart-eaters"?) or Numbor (Me."Bent ones, sunken ones" or "deep-ones"?) were a race or tribe of Ogres. They inhabited the "lands of the North" in contrast to their relatives, the Sarqindi who lived in or near the Dark regions and fire mountains of "the South".They are likely identixal withnthe creatures known as "Syôyâny" to the Lossoth.

Just like the other few scattered references to Ogres also the Hongwir most likely are something in-between Orc,Troll, Giant and Demon similar to Boldogs or Maulir. They were more likely directly serving Melkor, in contrast to the Southern Sarqindi, though possibly both originally were corrupted or created by him.
