Hengon was the King of Dorwinion and a descendant of Bladorthin. He ruled from T.A. 2940-T.A. 2980. He was king when Thorin's Company set out to reclaim Erebor from the deadly dragon Smaug. Hengon had continued the alliances of his forefathers, but when word had spread that Erebor had been finally freed, Hengon immediately set messengers to the King Under the Mountain for the spears that were to be given to the people's of Dorwinion.
King Dain was paid for the spears and the spears that King Bladorthin had commissioned to be made for his armies finally arrived. Dorwinion became a great fighting force, utilizing warriors bought and paid from the lands of the Silvan, Dwarfs, High, Middle, and Low Men.
King Hengon adopted many troops and mercenaries from many different factions into his kingdom and Dorwinion eventually became a mightily fortified location.
King Hengon had one son Hawin who he would pass his crown onto in T.A. 2980. Along with the crown came the challenge and burden of deciding whether to side with Sauron or the Free Peoples of Middle Earth.
