The Sea of Helcar in the Elder Days
Region of Helcar in the Third Age
The Sea of Helcar (Q."ice-cold"; Av. "'elekâra") was a large Inland Sea that was created by the fall of the great ice-Pillar (or Mountain) of Illuin, covering the greatest part of Endon in the Elder days. By the mid Third Age it had dwindled and reduced to a collection of smaller Lakelands, westernmost of them being the Rhûnaer and the Núrnen, easternmost being the Helkanen.

Notes[]
The given Maps are based on Tolkien's "The Shaping of Middle-earth". According to "The Nature of Middle-earth" the Orocarni would have been far closer to the west, making the original sea of Helcar and accordingly Palisor far smaller.
