Krigia dandelion (L.) Nutt. Potato dwarfdandelion

The Hûgar was a dandelion related to Orrain, originally native to humid, tropical ocean shores, later cultivated. It had dark green leaves, orange to red flowers, and a root system which frequently grew 2'-4' deep. Its edible roots caused sleep and quick unconsciousness; one hour of hûgar-induced sleep was equivalent to six hours of normal sleep.Hûgar roots contained an addictive barbiturate. A serious overdose (3 or more doses at once) acted as a very strong respiratory poison.
