Húrin of Emyn Amen was known to be the first Steward of Gondor where he served King Minardil, the twenty-fifth monarch of the South Kingdom (r. T.A. 1621-34). After his death, his line became the traditional source for the King's Stewards, and the Stewardship became synonymous with the House of Húrin. The symbol of his House was a simple, unadorned silver banner.
