The Guardians (Ol."Yîlbâma") were a group of tribes of the Old Ones who had allied themselves with the Girtmen, who saw them as Guardians of the Land.It was Pelakthôn, grandson of Duchess Sakalnî of Girtland, who, in TA 1504 (year 605 of the Girt reckoning) had been the first non-Old One, to go through the Old Ones traditional initiation ceremony to make a bond with the native people.After him this became obligatory for any new Duke of the Girtfolk.
