The Greenlands (Q."Ezellamar"; Ad."Lôkhithâni") were a legendary land or island discovered by Eärendil the Mariner on his voyage to the west.

It seems that the "Greenland" mentioned by J. R. R. Tolkien in the Book of lost tales originally was intended to be actual Greenland.This however would probably be difficult to bring to accordance with the later cosmology, though maybe not impossible.
