The inhabitants of Bucklebury knew an old tale about a Ghost haunting brandy hall. Though the Brandybucks themselves believed these rumours to be nonsense there was actually some truth in it as the deepest cellars were visited by shadows from a different time in which buck hill had been known as Blackwood Hill and had been a gateway to the Shadow World.However the Shade of an old Hobbit , smoking pipeweed or reading a book, which could sometimes be met was a harmless illusion and entirely peaceful.
