Gethaena was a realm of the Underdeeps , an artificial world inhabited by vampirish-demons and their lesser demonic servants who had been banished here once by the Lords of Essence.

Gethaena originally was devised as "Gates of Gehenna", as a module for ICE'S Loremaster series.It was later adapted into ICE'S own Shadow World or Kulthea setting, where it re-emerged as a demonic subterranean land beneath the continent Emer. In Shadow World the six evil rulers were called Ishru and they dominated the mortal Dain Sædhu.If re-adapted to a middle-earth setting it could probably be a remnant of the ancient Underdeeps beneath the Dark Lands or Southernesse where Demons of Morgoth or fallen Spirits of Arda who had once fled and hid from the host of the valar, have kept up a tiny realm for themselves.
