Gauntlets (Q. mantelë, S. maegbad, Ad. zôrputha) were armored gloves worn by warriors, kings, and champions throughout the ages of Arda. Beyond their martial utility, many gauntlets held deep cultural and symbolic significance, often bearing enchantments, house emblems, or the craftsmanship of great smiths. Some became legendary relics, imbued with power through the artistry of the Noldor, the craftsmanship of Khazad-dûm, or the dark sorcery of Morgoth and Sauron.
