Gar Ainion (Nol. "Place of the Gods", earlier Gar Ainon), also refered to as Ainurarda or Arda Valarwa (Q. "Realm of the Valar") was the great temple of Gondolin, standing at the city's highest point, near the halls of King Turgon. It was both a sacred place of worship and the site of royal ceremonies, its open structure rising above the Square of the Palace, visible from nearly all parts of the city. Here, under the sky of Middle-earth but in a place thought closest to the presence of the Valar, the most solemn rites of the Gondolindrim were conducted, including the wedding of Idril and Tuor.
