Galnim (S."Pale blue shine") was a soft, durable, lightweight, malleable metal with appearance ranging from silvery to dull gray, depending on the surface roughness.It was also insoluble in alcohol, though it could be soluble in water in certain forms and could act as a poison, especially in high doses when exposed to it over long time.
