The Gúsar (Ap.:"Runners") were a clan standing culturally somewhere in-between the Hillmen of the Briy-Miyeséc and the Sandmen.Legends recalled that many generations ago, the founder of the Clan, the first Gúsar, led his followers to take their hill of Gusar's Djebel from a band of Pogánin or foreigners and his folk had lived there ever since. They made their living by raiding caravans en route along the coastal road, the Bôzisha-Dâr from the lands of Tulwang, Kharadûnê, and even far away Ûsakan, but, like all of the warrior clansmen, there was more to these men than one might expect from a rude brigand. Piety was valued as highly as life by the Gúsars, and they were fiercely loyal to their nation. In years past, the warriors of the clan had served many times with the armies of the Kralyî and under the Regent Councilors. They had fought against the soldiers of Hyarmendacil I, when many died as heroes. Even before this, legends said, the armies of the Stone Kings suffered at the hands of the Gúsars. Their history was long and splendid, and through it ran a single thread: they had always warred on the Poganin, the foreigners who come to defile their land.

Times were not so hard as once they were. There were no invaders or conquerors to battle, and a good living could be garnered from banditry. It was a time of comfort and a time to return to their age old pastime, feuding. Now the warriors divided their time between sacking baggage trains and sorties against two Hillman-clan strongholds not more than two days' ride distant.The fortresses of the Kalnarti and the Roppro. Life today under the one hundred thirty-second Gusar, was reminiscent of the days which the most pleasant of legends recounted.
