Ruins of Dinas Rhyddyll before the Building of Frecasburg
Frecasburg was a mountain Fortress and town in the Westmarch of Rohan. It was the seat of the family of Freca I and the traditional center of the leading families of the Healfblodas of Rohan. The Castle of Frecasburg was built by Freca I near the source of the river Adorn to fortify the older Town of Feragwull (Du. "Mountainflower") or Dinas Rhyddyll (Du. "Fort of free twilight").
