Son of Gror (of the House of Durin), Náin was the father of Dain Ironfoot. At the battle of Azanulbizar in T.A. 2799, Náin challenged Azog,the Orc-chieftain, to combat and was slain. In fitting retribution, Nain's son then beheaded Azog and led the Dwarf-host of the Iron Hills to victory at the gates of Moria.
