Elargant was a half-Dúnadan half-Dunman of Laur Dunnen. He was thought to be a bard, but he was primarily a sage, fortune-teller, and astrologer. He lived in a short round tower in Laur Dunnen, and his advice was highly prized, as it was well known that he was usually the first to hear rumors. Information gained from Elargant was usually correct, but was also expensive, although he often took payment in the form of juicy rumors.

Deatailed description[]

Elargant was a half Dúnadan, half Dunnish astronomer. His business was information, which he gathered and sold for profit. Some was gained through his professional skills, but much was gained through his "eyes and ears". These were his names for the Dunman twins that supplied him with information that they heard or saw on the streets of Laur Dunnen. Elargant had taken care of them since their parents had died. They were very good at stalking and hiding, and most people did not know that they related everything they saw and heard to Elargant. He was neutral politically, supplying information to anyone for the right price, which kept him from being killed. He was one of the prime sources of rumors and legends in this area, and welcomed visitors.

Notes[]

Original formmin MERP:Elharian = Elargant

The name Elharian seems to be derived from old brythonic or middle welsh Él/Eil ,"second, other" and modern welsh "harian", "money, silver", although it could also represent an "untranslated" form. The proper old welsh or middle welsh form of the name would be Elargant or Eilariant.
