With the help of their Dwarven Ring of Thelor's Tribe, the Sages of the Ironfists developed a technique of using Gemstones as focuses for Prophecy, Healing, and other kinds of magic. After their decline many of these Earth Readers hid among the Easterlings posing as travelling Shamans or tribal advisors.

The Earth-Reader is similar to a Geomancer, Crystal Mage, Earth-Alchemist, Montebanc, or Shamanic Alchemist of Rolemaster although the profession could also be interpreted as a Dwarven Alchemist, Magician or Seer. LOTRRPG considers the Earth-Reader an elite-order.
