Eärendur, the tenth and last King of Arnor, was a great Ranger who presided over the North Kingdom during the final years of its unity (T.A. 777-861). His sons divided Arnor into three successor states: Arthedain, Cardolan, and Rhudaur. Amlaith, the eldest, became the first King of Arthedain.
