Dwálin son of Drúin was a dwarf of the nan-i-naugrim in the northern Ered Luin.He was engaged as a scout by his childhood-friend Báin for two travels to the iron Hills, who had once saved his live when Dwálin was attacked by giant spiders in Mirkwood.Dwálin (who returned home as a cripple after an attacked by Trolls in the cold fells) promised Báin to return his dragonslaying Hammer, a heirloom of his tribe.
