Dolphins (Q."Mónalingwer" or "Carvalingwer", Tel."Lingarval", Ad."Azrubelûn") are a group of related families of aquatic mammals most closely related to Whales and Porpoises usually ranging in size from the 5 ft 7 in to 31 ft 2 in and 110 pounds- 11 short tons.
Dolphins of various kind were common to most of Middle-earth's coastal areas, with exception of the cold Northern Sea and the extreme southwest of Harad.
They were of particular cultural significance for the O'ô'-Pendi of the Dark Lands Great East Continent and the Myri who revered the shapeshifting water spirit Allanda who would sometimes appear as a dolphin.
