Cult of the Agannâlumâbâ Âru was a fanatic and slightly bizarre cult followed exclusively by the Black Númenórean exiles on Anagzâyan in the late Third Age. Followers revered Ar-Pharazôn as a god-king and practised ethnic cleansing and incest to preserve their Númenórean blood. They hated both the Valarin cults, especially of the Elves and Gondorians, and the Sauronic and Melkoric cults, viewing Zigûr as an agent of the Valar and the greatest enemy of Númenor. In spite of this, they inherited many beliefs and practices from the Cult of Melkor, most prolifically the temple sacrifice of traitors and their racial lessers.

Description[]

The ‘Agannâlumâbâ Âru’ (Ad. "King without the Shadow of Death") referred to the worship of Ar-Pharazôn the Golden as an immortal god-king.

This faith held that Ar-Pharazôn had triumphed in his war against the Valar. However, in the process the Undying Lands and Númenor were removed from the world, and the way was lost to those left behind. Ar-Pharazôn took up his throne as the new Great God, and Arminalêth was remade from the ruins as a glorious city and seat of power. From the new eternal Andûnê the Agannâlumâbâ Âru watched over all his people left behind and yearned to guide them to glory and eternal life in his new kingdom.

To achieve this end, lesser men were offered up in his name. Blood flowed in the temples, sustaining this broken world by the grace of the Agannâlumâbâ Âru — until that glorious day when the worthy would ascend into his eternal kingdom
