Crowns (Q. ríë; S. rî; Av. rhîw; Nol. rhî; Kh: zaghâl; Ad. zîrîbal or zîrakân) were the highest symbols of kingship, sovereignty, and divine mandate throughout the histories of Arda. These sacred headpieces, forged by Elves, Dwarves, and Men, represented the continuity of lineages, the blessings of the Valar, and the authority bestowed upon rulers. Some crowns bore enchantments, while others were ceremonial relics passed down through the ages, enshrined in the halls of monarchs and rulers.
