Chailla

The Chaialla (Ia. "Old Ones" or "Cliff-people" also called Iaretin by the Cuind) were a people of Wild Men akin to the mountains and forests of the Kharadûne-Peninsula. They were of Drughu-stock and closely akin to the Honnin and Yatali-Gan.

Society[]

The Chaialla were arranged into family units that lived in caves, or half-submerged passage-homes. Households came together to form bands, led by a headman. In turn, bands came together to form a clan, led by a chieftain. Sometimes in times of crisis, the five clans of Pél will raise a High Chieftain, who will step down after the issue they need him for has been resolved.

Although all chieftains are male, the Chaialla trace their descent matrilineally, and the words of the eldest woman are always followed at home. They are monogamous, and produce few children. The Priestesses of their people are always female.

The Chaialla are exclusively vegetarians. They rely on gardening and gathering, and consume a variety of nuts, mushrooms, berries, tubers, succulents, and edible wild plants.

Religion[]

The Chaialla follow the ancient practices of the Drûghu, and revere Yavanna (Ia. "Nâlamgîe") most of all as the Queen of the Earth.
