Maia

The Maiar (Q. "Beautiful Folk," singular: Maia) were the lesser Ainur, spirits of might and wisdom who descended into Eä at the Beginning of Time. Though lesser in power than the Valar, they were numerous beyond count, each possessing unique gifts, aligned with the themes of the Great Music. From the foundations of Arda to the furthest reaches of the cosmos, the Maiar labored in service to the vision of Ilúvatar, shaping, guiding, and sometimes falling into shadow.
