Gnomes

Gnome (W."Learned one"; Mg."Nómin") was an ancient nickname for the Deep Elves or Noldoli.

MERP and LotRAG[]

In the MERP and LOTRAG books or the MECCG the term Gnome is sometimes attached to the Petty-dwarves or even men of short stature.

Notes[]

A "dwarf-like" Race such as the D&D Gnomes does canonically not exist within Middle-earth or Arda, but Creatures of Faerie such as Brownies, Leprawns, Lintips, Pixies, and Sprites do exist but are considered Fays, not mortal Eruhini but immortal incarnate Spirits similar to lesser Maiar. The term "Kobold" on the other hand is often used as a translation of "Goblin".
