Carnil of Eregion was among the first of the Eldar to settle in Eregion. His grapes produced the finest wines of the vineyards along the banks of the Sirannon. His daughter Laithen worked beside him in the winery, unlike his son Orrere who had left the family calling to learn smithing among the Gwaith-i-Mirdain. Carnil served on the Council of Lords in Ost-in-Edhil. After the destruction of Eregion, Carnil became disillusioned and left for an unsteady life of wandering. In the early Fourth Age he was a companion of the fellowship accompanying T'revor Arain and other Travelers.
