Carl Sandyman (T.A. 2885 - T.A. 3015) was a Hobbit who was the head of the Sandyman clan in the Shire, and the father of Ted Sandyman. At some point before his old rival Bilbo Baggins left the Shire with a company Dwarves, Carl had recently hid his father's hammer and nails. However, he was angered that Bilbo was able to retrieve them before the bridge over the water can be repaired. After his father's passing, Carl took the position in running the Old Mill in Hobbiton for many years while he got married and had a son named Ted. Some time before the War of the Ring, Carl was killed in a terrible accident while repairing his old mill and his position was passed over to Ted.
