Caranan was a herb mixture usually baked into bread or used as seasoning in soup. Caranan healed concussion hits and relieved pain and swelling, frequently reducing injury penalties. Although caranan was not addictive, the maximum number of effective doses was 10 per day. Its active ingredient was carano , an oregano relative originally native to temperate stream banks, wetlands, and other well-watered areas, now widely cultivated.
