Borlas (S. "Enduring-joy"?) is the central character of The New Shadow. He was the youngest son of Beregond and little brother to Bergil. He later left Minas Tirith with his family, moving to Pen-arduin in Ithilien.
In the Fourth Age, already in advanced age, Borlas became involved with Saelon and the mystery of the Dark Tree and Herumor the Dark Lord.
