This ring was a simple band of a strange blue alloy. It was invisible when worn, and among other powers imbued the wearer with "immortality" by preserving the body in a semi-decayed state, and allowing its wearer's spirit to remain in wraith-form.

A Petty-dwarf known as Miffli found this item and wore it. It preserved his life, and also allowed him to command the spirits of his fallen comrades. The origins of this Blue Ring were unknown, but some have hypothesized that it was one of Sauron's early Binding Rings.

Notes[]

  • The idea of the Blue Ring and the Ta-Fa-Lisch in MERP contradict the canonical statement that "Dwarves could not be turned into shadows", so it can be supposed that the tale about the Blue Ring was indeed a fabrication, and the Ta-Fa-Lisch had in truth different origins. Or perhaps the Petty-dwarves were subject to un-death, unlike other Dwarves.
