Biskabia the Tanner (Rh. "By-shaver") was a man of mixed heritage who lived in the town of Strayhold in Rhovanion about T.A. 1636. A few shops from Albireik Blackfist's smithy was his leather shop. His wares were of fair quality and his prices were not too expensive. As at the other shops, the products on display were, as a rule, highly decorated. In addition to the normal stock of wine skins and horse furniture, the shop held several sets of leather armour and three stout shields of cured hide and wood. Biskabia's son, Biskabavig, handled the transactions. The tanner and his son were both rather politically minded and often tried to organize their neighbors to bring pressure on Guilds to achieve this or that end. As one might suspect, they had little success in such pursuits. The Guilds were seen by most of the citizens as part of life in Strayhold, and few saw any possibility of change. Still, the two leatherworkers would talk at great length to anyone who would listen, about the problems of the town and their solutions for them. Though their points of view tended to show a certain degree of political naivety, they were well informed about the political set-up in the settlement. If drawn into the topic, either would gladly voice his opinion that the removal of Lâierdinôth the Magician would do nothing but bring ruinous civil strife to Fire Town. After sunset, these two could often be found in the nearby tavern trying to convince their fellows of the immediate need to unite and throw off the rule of the Guilds.
