
Middle-earth was home to myriads of birds, small Birds as well as great birds, including songbirds such as cuckoos, crakes, wrens, crows, shrikes and sparrows, as well as birds of prey such as hawks, eagles, falcons, vultures, owls and harriers, and numerous other kinds of ducks, geese, swans and screamers, pheasants, grouse, fowl, gulls, storks, cranes, doves, pigeons and kingfishers.
