Bill Ferny was a Rogue from Bree-land. A coarse Man of dubious ancestry, he frequented taverns and casually fell into bad company, such as the Half-orcs, Euog, and Doeth. His associations brought him into league with Saruman, who employed him during the War of the Ring. While at The Prancing Pony in T.A. 3018, Bill attempted to slow the Company's departure from Bree but failed. He later served as the Warden of Buckland Gate. When Frodo returned to the Shire, Bill was expelled.
