Boromir: "Is it not a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt for so small a thing? So small a thing!"
- J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring II:10

Beleg (S. "Great, mighty") was a man of Gondor, a soldier and scout for the Rangers of Ithilien. He kept an eye on the troop movements to and from the Black Gate. On one of his missions he was eventually captured by Orcs of Mordor who interrogated and tortured him. He eventually died severely wounded, left behind in the rough crags north of the Morannon.
