The Beacon Hills or Beacons of Gondor were two lines of lower foothills of the Ered Nimrais on which signal beacons were installed on small platforms or greater towers. There were two lines of Beacons: the northern, or outer beacons, for communication with Anórien and Rohan; and the second, southern or inner line for communication with the southern/western fiefs.
The main beacons of the northern line included (in order, west to east): Halifirien (Amon Anwar), Calenhad, Min-Rimmon, Erelas, Nardol, Eilenach, and Amon Dín.
