The Battle of the Seasons was thought to be the final battle to end the First War, but this was not to be as Melkor led a surprise attack on the Two Lamps.
Melkor and his forces fought a reinforced Aniur army, while the Spirits of Arda and Corrupted Spirits clashed in locations around the world. Melkor sent the Nameless to sow Aulë pain and help him in his conquest of Arda. Coming to the aid of the Valar and Arda was Tulkas, who lent his strength to Arda and Aulë.
As Melkor tried to create discord in the foundations of Arda--Tulkas lent his aid to the Valar, a great battle was fought, and it ended with Melkor retreating to the Void, his forces in hiding. The Valar established the foundations of the world and the Spring of Yavanna would take place. Arda would know peace for thousands of years.
