The Battle of the Field of Celebrant was a battle fought in T.A. 2510 in northern Gondor on the Field of Celebrant.
The Northern Army of Gondor, led by Steward Cirion, had advanced against the Balchoth, who had overrun Calenardhon, but the latter were reinforced by a horde of Orcs of the Misty Mountains. The Northern Army was surrounded, but as the invaders were preparing to massacre it, the Éothéod, led by Eorl, swept down from the north in answer to a previous request for aid and routed the enemy.
For this victory, which ended the Balchoth threat to Gondor, the Éothéod were given Calenardhon, and there established the Kingdom of Rohan.
