In T.A. 1409, Angmar launched a large invasion into Eriador, aimed primarily at the Tower of Amon Sûl. In this war, Ostohir, the last prince of Cardolan, was slain in battle on the Barrow-downs by Rogrog, and Cardolan was laid waste by the Witch-king's armies.
