Barad Caranthir (S. "Caranthir's Fortress"): First Age fort, on Lake Helevorn under Mount Rerir in Dor Caranthir, was the stronghold of Caranthir the Dark, reoccupied by the daughter of Caranthir in the early Second Age, and finally seriously damaged and left to ruin in the tumult of the globing of the world (Akallabêth).
