Barad-wath (S: Shadow-tower): Initially a watch post in Mordor called Morigost existed from the Second Age, this was built into a large natural opening in the side of the last mountain in the Maegond Spur of Ered Lithui, and it overlooked the western portion of the Gap of Nurza Shûk. Then in the early Third Age construction was begun by Gondor on a tower built on the side of the last mountain, but was not completed until two of the Nazgûl took charge later in the Third Age and made it the seat of the orcish Gorugolthur-tribe. It was one of the fortresses destroyed by Elessar’s Army after Sauron’s overthrow.
