Baldwin (Éo. "Bold-friend") was of the line of Dwálin the Wise. After the fall of Dwálin VI, the hereditary items of the Broadbeam father were lost in the Ered Mithrin. Baldwin had descended from the father of the Broadbeams, and led the Broadbeams in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. Baldwin was an excellent fighter. In the very end of the War, Baldwin was the only Dwarf-lord that considered helping Durin's Folk reclaim Moria. But after hearing the words of Dain Ironfoot, he withdrew with his people and went back to the Iron Mountains to wage more war against the Dragons that had robbed them of their ancestral items.
