Boromir: "Is it not a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt for so small a thing? So small a thing!" - J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring II:10 |
Baian of Syntar (Mg.: "striving for the sea") was an early Númenórean explorer who killed Telmorng's son Meklak. The death of Meklak enabled Sauron to gain a foothold in the South.
Notes[]
Baian is an uncommon name for a Númenorean and does not seem to be Adûnaic, Quenya or Sindarin. It may represent an archaic Beorian form, "Bai-" could be related to Goldogrin "Bai", "Outer Sea" and "-an" to Quenya/Sindarin "an(a)", "towards".
