The Bôzisha-Mîraz

Raj

Rây and the Sûza Sûmar

Far to the South of the warring realms of Gondor and Mordor, encompassing lay an area known to it's inhabitants as Bôzisha-Mîraz (Ap."Dowry of the Goddess"). The people who dwelt here had passed in and out of sight of Middle-earth's great powers, but in times of great conflict between light and dark such remote regions had been left to fend for themselves in favor of more important lands to the north. Thus this piece of land, while it had been swayed by outsiders, had always been given time to return to it's traditional ways when greater nations grew distracted.

It's northern boundaries were lost in the Great Desert and savannas, to the south and east stood badlands where the farthest flung fingers of Haradron civilization fell well short of touching the neighboring states. To the west swelled the endless sea. At the nation's center was it's reasonably fertile area, the Rây, where an inlet from the sea and a fair-sized river, the Rîyesha, brought moisture to the soil.

Where the Rîyesha met the ocean inlet stood the region's largest settlement, known to some by it's Westron name of Harshport. To it's people, it was called Bôzisha-Dâr or "Gift of the Goddess" in Apysaic. Harshport was a hodge-podge of cultural styles, where that of the native population was generally dominant, but the power of old Númenor could still be seen and felt. A more traditional settlement was found across the Hills of the Moon from the Dâr in the forest known as The Gái. The town was Tresti, or "Rock", named for the stone that built it. Tresti's citizens were almost all of pure Haradron descent and were a proud and powerful people.

Northwest of the Rîyesha was the Sûza Sûmar, the "Forest of Tears".This region was an anomaly, for here water was plentiful. Each afternoon with the sinking of the sun, banks of dark clouds rolled up the inlet from the sea and drenched this wooded area. These rains came and allowed for an isolated pocket of moderate climate amid the severity of the surrounding land.

Though the land had ever been only loosely involved in the great affairs of the North, the history of it's people was rich and colorful and there was plenty room for adventure and high living here under the southern sun of Far Harad.
