The Axes of Nargubraz were an Order of Warriors and Mercenaries among the Blacklocks who had sworn to redeem the dishonour of their ancestors who had granted Sauron shelter and warred with their Stonefoot brothers in the Second Age.
War-mansions of the Axes[]
Axes' "war-mansions":
The late Third Age, when Var’s people led a personal war of vengeance against the Dark Lord and his minions, was marked by the existence of several temporary mansions founded by this tribe. These so-called “war-mansions” were characterized by a near total lack of women and children and their overall strict military orientation (e.g. there was no mining beyond the necessary minimum for the maintenance of the war-gear). They were essentially semi-permanent military camps and bases for the Axes of Nargubraz in their vendetta:
- unnamed mansion in Akhuzdah
- Azagarbhun
- unnamed mansion near Khalarazûm
- Nárad-dûm
- Naragûldûm
Var’s folk had no “war mansions” in the Northwest. Whenever a company of the Axes of Nargubraz happened to operate in the Northwest, they were sheltered in a mansion of the western Dwarves.

2915 Narad-dûm abandoned by the Axes of Nargubraz.
3005 Azagarbhun closed by the Axes of Nargubraz.
3020 Khalarazûm abandoned the second time. Naragul and Mablad-dûm left by the Axes of Nargubraz.
