Avor Taul

Most of what we know about Avor Taul(Grey Fire) is gleaned from the Lament of Avor Taul which is a peom/song about it's destruction in the ancient past. Avor Taul was supposed to be a thriving Dwarven city and mining town in the northwest Iron Hills. It was famous for an alleged discovery of a vein of mithril in an area previously not known to have that ore. According to the Lament of Avor Taul, The city was attacked by a huge army of orcs and completely destroyed. There were no known survivors and none of the other Dwarven strongholds could muster a force to come to the city's aid. The poem goes on to say that although the city was destroyed the mines were hidden and so also the vein of mithril.
