These rough, windswept, and grassy steppes were situated east of southern Mirkwood. The Athan Esgalbar (S. "Beyond [the] Hidden-home"; Old Rh. Ut Fulginhaim), also known as "Dunheath" (from Old Rh. "Dunahaithi", "Hill-heath") to the Northrons, was a favorite grazing ground for many of the Eothraim tribes.
