Asatthoth (Av. "dust-sorcerer") was a Demon of the Void encountered by Morgoth during his lonely wanderings. He was an embodiment of sloth, laziness, and nothingness, and had little intelligence on his own, yet Morgoth was fascinated by Asatthoth's nihilism and obvious power, and decided to lure him into Arda to enslave him and use his untapped strength as a source of energy. He imprisoned him in his deepest dungeons of Angband, lulled into never-ending sleep by demonic minstrels playing sorcerous flutes….
