Arganoth was a (possibly legendary) person to whom the origin of many powerful artifacts were attributed. These artifacts were well known in Rohan and Gondor. The name sounds Goldogrin in origin. It may have been the name of an elvish smith and artificer, maybe one of the Elves of Eregion, or perhaps a fallen elf in service of the Nameless.

Notes[]

  • The name might be based on or an homage to “Arganoth of the Burning Legion” from Warcraft, or be simply a typo for Argonath - however a very unlikely origin for artifacts!
  • In Goldogrin arganoth translates as "dry man".
