Angirith (S. "Iron-cleft"; Or. "Ongrâkh") was the southern and gentler of the two passes across the Misty Mountains into Angmar. Topping out well above the tree line, this exhausting passage at the northern end of the range was heavily traveled by the folk of Angmar. A side passage, the Aes Ruin, led directly to Mount Gundabad. Snow blocked the Angirith from late autumn to summer.
